Newland (Prologue)

Everyone referred to them as "the bombs", but in reality, no one knew for sure what it was that left the entire population of Newland either mutated or dead. At first, many paranoid theories were thrown about the wasted dimension. The bureaucrats in Area Alpha had misfired a weapon meant to neutralize the other three Areas. Some maniac in Area Delta had managed to summon a cataclysmic magical event. It was demons. It was aliens. It was God. In the end it didn't matter; after the first year or so, people finally reached that realization and talk of the event's causation became almost nonexistent. Saying it was some kind of bomb, whether magical or scientific, was easier than continued speculation about an event that could never be undone. The monsters would never be human again. The dead would never come back.
